Boundary or surface?
Perimeter is the total distance around a closed shape. Area is the amount of surface covered inside it. Think of perimeter as a fence and area as grass inside the fence.
Units
Perimeter uses cm, m or km.
Area uses cm², m² or km².
Practice
Find the perimeter and area of a rectangle 15 cm long and 9 cm wide.
